To the Yale community: our stance on LKI

To the Editor:

The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program (WGSS) wishes to clarify recent publicized statements by Larry Kramer about the current direction of the Larry Kramer Initiative by stating that:

1) We offer an outstanding undergraduate and graduate curriculum including a major in WGSS with tracks in both women’s and gender studies and lesbian and gay studies as well as a graduate concentration in WGSS;

2) We have long been committed to lesbian and gay studies and have included this content in our course offerings;

3) We stand fully behind our close and indispensable collaboration with the faculty and staff of the Larry Kramer Initiative for whom we want to express our support in the strongest possible terms;

4) This collaboration allows both the Larry Kramer Initiative and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program enhanced development and growth and significantly benefits the greater Yale community.
