The women’s soccer team has found a surprise in Michelle Gosselin ’07 this season. Gosselin was named last week’s Ivy League Rookie of the Week for women’s soccer.

Gosselin scored her first career goal Sept. 17, in a 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart University. Gosselin has played in all six games so far this season and has started three games.

Her collegiate success in soccer is fitting considering her high school achievements. While attending Foran High School in Milford, Gosselin participated in the Olympic Development Program for five years and was an All-New England selection.

Still, Gosselin said she is dazzled by the time she has been on the field this season.

“I am really surprised that I am actually playing,” Gosselin said.

Gosselin said the women’s soccer program is extremely bright, with nine freshmen on the team, many contributing alongside Gosselin already.

“We are only graduating two seniors, so it is a young team, and I think with so many freshmen, we are going to do pretty well in the future,” she said.
