As legislation providing for a federal cap on greenhouse-gas emissions died in the U.S. Senate on Friday, University President Richard Levin warned that Congress’ failure to tackle the issue of climate change sends the wrong message to other global powers.

Is Levin running for President of the United States or some other national political office? At every opportunity he gets, Levin runs his mouth about his liberal ideologies on world issues. Levin should understand that as University President, he represents all students at Yale and that he alienates many conservative students by taking such stands. The chief example is his comparison of prolife advocates to wahabi terrorists, which was meant to insult religious and prolife students, alumns and the general public. Levin is not fit to be president of an institution like Yale. Perhaps he is losing touch and his intellect is deteriorating with age.

How does Levin know that India and China will embrace environmental reforms if U.S. does? This is pure speculation and wishful thinking. The air pollution in these countries is exponentially worse than the U.S. These countries will not cut emissions and accept higher environmental standards in the near future. Additionally, the premise of global warming has been dismissed by many scientists.
